Update on Industrial Action - meeting arranged with employer for week commencing 12 September 2011 - Read the message from your branch secretary

We have notified Somerset County Council that UNISON members across the Council (excluding schools) will commence continuous Industrial Action short of a strike from Wednesday 13th July 2011.

URGENT UPDATE REGARDING WITHDRAWAL OF PERSONAL VEHICLE – EXCEPTIONAL CAR USERS & CAR PARKING PERMIT

The forms of action are;

not undertaking any duties not specified in the member's job description or contract of employment;
not working above or beyond contracted hours;
not volunteering to work non-contractual overtime;
taking all breaks members are entitled to take, at the designated times;
withdrawing the use of their own car, thus not using it for business purposes;
withdrawing the use of a car obtained through the assisted purchase scheme, thus not using it for business purposes.

Please encourage all members to engage with this action, attached are some frequently asked questions to support this. Please ensure that these are available to all staff in your work area (non-members can join and will then be immediately covered to participate in the action).
